i came across two news articles that stirred up my the fires of my heart - almost to a hateful burn.
i think there are a few things that really get me riled up, 1. when children are rudely disrespectful to their mothers 2. seeing others get cheated or taken advantage of 3. the distortion and manipulation of truth. i'm sure there are more. i'll be sure to make a list now for my own sake and just so that you know not to do around me.
one article, titled, "Team Jesus Christ", from the washington post reports of the religious intolerance of an army chaplain, capt. morton, who surprisingly also is a woman.
the post writes,
> > > A chaplain instructs cadets to try to convert classmates by warning that they "will burn in the fires of hell" if they do not accept Christ. During basic training, freshman cadets who decline to attend after-dinner chapel are marched back to their dormitories in "heathen flights" organized by upperclassmen. A Jewish student is taunted as a Christ killer and told that the Holocaust was the just punishment for that offense. The academy's head football coach posts a banner in the locker room that proclaims, "I am a Christian first and last. . . . I am a member of Team Jesus Christ."
the second article from the los angeles times is just sad regarding the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its 49- yr old prophet-leader warren jeffs, who is a polygamist, and his connection to more than 400 boys that have been driven out over by the four corners.

His stated offenses: wearing short-sleeved shirts, listening to CDs and having a girlfriend. Other boys say they were booted out for going to movies, watching television and staying out past curfew.
Some say they were sometimes given as little as two hours' notice before being driven to St. George or nearby Hurricane, Utah, and left like unwanted pets along the road.
Authorities say the teens aren't really being expelled for what they watch or wear, but rather to reduce competition for women in places where men can have dozens of wives.
how to respond? hmmmm. it almost infuriates me that i can't do anything but...pray.
