more than vigilant
o the downpour of rain. usually the rain fills me up inside. i would feel so alive.
but today it's like the end of the world. puddles amass. everything is colorless. my commute has become loudly monotonous. my fingers are cold. i know i am still alive. but i am not sure what for. instead of the exhilaration i used to feel when i would look up to the sky and my face would be blessedly washed, today i am aware that i simply exist. my world is being flooded.

during my break i watched million dollar baby. so naturally i thought of terri schiavo. my good friend's wife is her first cousin. my heart drifts toward their family everyday. i don't know what it's like for them to hold on to her life for so long. i also watched hotel rwanda. i was enraged at the thought of 800,000 people slaughtered at a rate of killing that was faster than the nazis. enraged because nothing was done. nobody really cared then, i suspect nobody really cares now. i watched friday night lights. i needed an outlet for all my pent up aggressions at that point only being fueled further by the heat of the real march madness. i watched the incredibles. i long to be incredible and not just wait for something incredible to happen. rain, rain on my face. it hasn't stopped raining.
as a seminary student looking at graduating in a month, it's real difficult to spend time in the books when all these things stir in me. i want more.

"If there's magic in boxing is the magic of fighting battles beyond endurance, beyond cracked ribs, ruptured kidneys and detached retinas. It's the magic of risking everything for a dream that nobody sees but you." ~ Eddie Scrap-Iron Dupris, Million Dollar Baby

"If people see this they'll say 'Oh my God, that is horrible,' and then go on eating their dinners." ~ Jack, Hotel Rwanda

"Kingdom people seek first the Kingdom of God and its justice; church people often put church work above concerns of justice, mercy and truth. Church people think about how to get people into the church; Kingdom people think about how to get the church into the world. Church people worry that the world might change the church; Kingdom people work to see the church change the world." ~ Howard Snyder

xtra ditty from aim convo with joyosity :: isn't it interesting, peculiar that the (re: today's earthquake and the earthquake/tsunami) both happened the day after major Christian holidays? makes you wonder huh?
